The Pit is a good start for guilds to see how they do in a Heroic raid. The gear level requirements and difficulty are much lower than the other raids. This guide should help you get your guild better prepared for the fight ahead. While this guide is primarily focused on Heroic Pit, everything should still be viable against the other tiers. For general information on the raid such as rewards and full list of abilities check out The Pit.
In order to defeat the raid the guild will need to deal 10,304,356 damage across the 4 phases. The goal per member for raids is normally 2% damage per phase, but smaller guilds may aim for 10%. With the right teams, members should be able to deal much more damage.
Phase | Health | 2% Amount | 10% Amount |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 1,872,454 | 37,449 | 187,245 |
2 | 3,035,488 | 60,709 | 303,548 |
3 | 3,288,446 | 65,768 | 328,844 |
4 | 2,107,978 | 42,159 | 210,797 |
General Strategy
Phase 1
The battle will start with Gamorrean Captain summoning a Gamorrean Guard and Brute. The first focus should be getting Speed Down or Turn Meter Reduction on Gamorrean Captain as soon as possible so save a character that can do that for him while following this kill order:
- 1st = Gamorrean Guard
- 2nd = Gamorrean Brute
- 3rd = Gamorrean Captain
Follow the above Kill Order whenever the Captain summons the Guard and Brute. If a character gets Deathmark you can dispel it, stealth them, or have another character taunt. When using high Turn Meter Reduction teams it can go away on its own without anyone dying if the boss can be kept from attacking. Most characters that are appropriate level and gear should be able to take one hit with deathmark on them and only lose their protection.
Phase 2
Once the Captain is gone the Rancor will come out and stand under the gate. In this phase the Rancor will eat someone every 7 turns raising the importance of Turn Meter Reduction characters. In addition, the Rancor also takes more damage when it has debuffs making the main focus of this phase getting Tenacity Down and any other debuffs onto the Rancor so Turn Meter Reduction has a greater chance to apply. If the rancor is resisting a lot then you should attack the Door Control Panel so the door will topple it, this will cause it to lose 50% Tenacity. There are two ways to manage the door drops:
- Immediately can increase damage and speed up the phase fight, it will also increase the chance of successfully putting debuffs on the Rancor and applying Turn Meter Reduction.
- Strategically will depend more on team composition. One way is to only drop the door when the Rancor resists Turn Meter Reduction or when all Turn Meter Reduction abilities are on cooldown and the Rancor is about to take a turn. Some may choose to drop it right before the rancor eats someone.
It is important to remember that the Rancor will take an immediate turn when it comes out of being toppled. If you are running an effective low gear Turn Meter Reduction team it may be best to not trigger the door panel to avoid the aoe of the boss.
Phase 3
This phase should go exactly like Phase 2 with the exception of the boss no longer taking increased damage when debuffed and is now taking less damage from characters that are debuffed. If running an effective Turn Meter Reduction team this will not make a difference, but if you do not have a team like that ready, bringing someone who can dispel all debuffs could be beneficial. Other than that the same focuses and strategy from Phase 2 applies to this Phase.
Phase 4
In Phase 4 the Rancor can no longer be toppled by dropping the gate and no longer eats an ally. The damage and tenacity of the Rancor is also much higher. Tenacity down will need to be placed on the boss to give Turn Meter Reduction a better chance to apply. The best way to make it the furthest in this phase is to keep the Rancor from taking a turn by reducing its Turn Meter.
Successful Characters and Team Strategies
Every phase in Heroic Pit is all about Turn Meter Reduction, Tenacity Down, and Speed Down. Choosing teams that have those capabilities will bring in big numbers for the raid for each phase and could possibly let you solo it. Characters that can gain stacking damage or increase the teams turn meter are also good choices. Due to the ever growing amount of characters being introduced to the game this guide will focus primarily on ones that can be accessed quickly and would not be a waste of resources. Below is a list of several teams and characters that can make good options for early to mid game players.

Creating your own teams from current roster
The best way to figure out who you can use from your current roster is to find atleast 2-3 units that can reduce Turn Meter and then build the team around them. Bring a unit that can apply Speed Down will greatly help. Bringing a unit that can apply Tenacity Down is also highly recommended, but if you do not have one then use Potency Mod Sets or a Plus mod with a Potency Primary and secondaries. Bring characters that have synergies with the conditions, if any, required to trigger the Turn Meter Reduction. Below is a list of some good options to use, for a complete list of units that can use the mechanics needed for the fight click the links below for the mechanic or status effect you need.
